over some pretty stiff competition from other, nationally known consulting
firms. The "Best of" contest was sponsored by Windows Developer Magazine in
cooperation with DevConnections Conferences.

EPS Software announces a major expansion of its successful .NET Seminar
Series.
Markus Egger, President of EPS Software Corp. of Houston Texas formally
announced the expansion of the Partner Sponsored series of "Breakfast
Seminars," first hosted in the Houston market in cooperation with Microsoft
Corporation. The seminar, to be held on Tuesday, April 22nd in San Antonio for
Breakfast (8:30 AM) and in Austin for Dinner (6:30 PM). The seminar is titled
"Microsoft .NET - Beyond the Hype" and is the first in a series sponsored by
EPS designed to provide important information to corporate software decision
makers.
Markus Egger, who is also chief software architect for EPS Software, stated
"This seminar series represents a joint effort between EPS Software and
Microsoft and discusses some of the dramatic changes in the landscape of custom
software development alternatives." He added, "Microsoft's .NET development
tools have altered how leading edge distributed software is developed. In our
seminar series, we intend to highlight some of the exciting changes and the
impact that they have on software development and acquisition decisions."
Malcolm Rubel, Director of Sales and Marketing added "The overwhelmingly
positive feedback that we received from our opening event in Houston indicated
a real hunger for this sort of program. Only one person who attended the event
indicated that they would not recommend the seminar to a friend or business
associate. Markus has a real talent for communicating the important points in a
clear, yet interesting fashion. The audience really appreciated his knowledge
and his candor. They also liked the fact that EPS Software was a .NET user,
not just a .NET talker."

EPS Custom Software Group staff gets international flavor.
It its continuing efforts to attract the best and the brightest software
talent, EPS Software's newest employee comes from Sao Paulo, Brazil. We are
pleased to welcome Claudio Lassala and his family to the Houston area and to
EPS Software Corporation.
Although Claudio Lassala has just arrived in the United States, he is well
known to the Microsoft developer community through his work on the Web. Claudio
is a Microsoft MVP, has spend a considerable amount of time on the Universal
Thread, a well known web community for developers. Claudio's work in Brazil
includes considerable experience with Microsoft development tools as well as
working at regional and international conferences, in magazine articles, as
well as training videos.
Claudio's first assignments at EPS Software will be to participate in the
company's .NET Framework initiative, working with veteran developers and Markus
Egger, the company president and chief software architect.
Beyond Claudio's considerable computer skills we are all impressed with his
command of English. Although not (yet) perfect, his English is excellent. "I
learned from a book and from watching television, movies, and listening to
audio books. I want to talk like a Texan some day." Y'all make yourself at
home, Claudio. Welcome to EPS Software!

EPS expands into new quarters.
Business has been good at EPS. Since forming the elite Custom Software Group,
the company has been seeing a significant rise in inquiries, proposals and
projects. That's the good news. The bad news? EPS was faced with a serious
office space shortage. The company recently expanded into new facilities at
their Champion Forest Drive headquarters in Houston, TX. "We were working on
top of each other and it was beginning to effect productivity," said Ellen
Whitney, Chief Information Officer. "Hiring new world-class developers to
handle the projects was only half the problem. Finding a place for them to work
was the other," she stated. "Fortunately, we planned ahead and had an option on
a space adjacent to the main office suite that could accommodate the developer
staff. No more "hot swapping" desks," she added.
Markus Egger, EPS Chief Software Architect, echoed Ms.
Whitney's observations when he said "Now I won't worry about productivity
because we had to move people around to accommodate meetings. We have our
meeting and training room back. We can have meetings that people can come to,
rather than meetings that force people out of the room." He added, "It's a lot
better atmosphere but, unfortunately, we are going to be faced with a space
issue again by the end of this year if things continue the way that they are
going. We are looking to hire at several more people by then."
